Product Description

J. K. “Jaye” Oliver’s passion for equine finery throughout history and across cultures finds expression in her richly detailed paintings. Years of research on decorative horse trappings inform and animate her profound appreciation for the connection between human and horse. Sources for the Crow, Navajo, Nez Perce, and Salish tack illustrated in this collection of notecards include the Denver Art Museum; the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe; and the Nez Perce National Historic Park’s museum in Spalding, Idaho.

Oliver holds a Master of Fine Arts degree. Her illustrations appear in books and calendars, and on CD and cassette jackets. She is the author/illustrator of Native American Saddlery and Trappings (Texas Tech University Press). Oliver makes her home and finds her inspiration in the high desert of New Mexico.
