Product Description

Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959), visionary American architect, grafted Modernism onto vigorous Arts and Crafts rootstock. A striking example is a little-known project of 1934 that he called the “Machine Age Screen.”

All we know of the design is a sketch made by the architect and a note to the effect that this screen in three panels was to be fabricated in plywood and copper. Did he have a client in mind? Probably himself: the ornament’s rectilinear patterns would have suited his home, Taliesin, in Spring Green, Wisconsin.

When the Taliesin Architects at the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation took on the planning and remodeling of the Arizona Biltmore Hotel in 1973, the sketch was adapted to create colorful triptychs on the guest room walls.

For this brilliant set of panoramic cards, we have adapted four of the Biltmore panels. They show the timeless diversity and flexibility of Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs.

Contains four each of four Biltmore wallpaper panel details, adaptations of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Machine Age Screen, 1934.
