In his designs for the children's playhouse commissioned by Avery and Queene Ferry Coonley, Frank Lloyd Wright cut whatever remaining ties to nature-based Art Nouveau motifs he had previously maintained. The stained glass of the playhouse windows, patterned with geometric figures, evoked a parade in progress--ticker tape drifting, balloons ascending, flags waving--while approaching the purely abstract. The windows' elongated shapes, bold, vibrant colors, and crisp design makes them perfect candidates for graphic adaptation to our panoramic format. The resulting notecards are spirit lifters, whether the viewer is Wright-savvy or not.
